CLINKER + MANRAYGUN
(Acme to Irricana - Remix) for iHuman "Feedback" Project
DUE SOUTH... (TOWARDS IRRICANA)

In early 2011 Clinker was invited to contribute a sound piece for the iHuman "Feedback" inner-city youth project, a remix inititaive founded by alt-country-folk-rock band manraygun. Arists were asked to select a song from the album "Everything is Temporaray" with all proceeds from a limited edition vinyl release and charity concert going to support inner city youth at risk with arts programming. Clinker's selection, "Acme to Irricana," ventured well off of secondaray highway #9's original trajectory, deep into the vast rolling prairies of his native Alberta. The rich instrumental pallete of manraygun was reconfigured into an imagined landscape of golden wheat and vivid yellow canola(sound) fields... Due South... towards Irricana.

CONTINENTAL IN[DI]VISIBILITY

Clinker was invited to contribute an audio piece to a Broadcast on London-based ResonanceFM (www.resonancefm.com) which aired on Sunday, April 27/08.

This was part of the show 'Framework' produced by Patrick McGinley (aka Murmer) of Perruel, France. For this invitational curator TJ Norris has selected work from international composers cross the dividing lines of Asia, The Americas, Oceania and Europe. The works presented are generated from or within a visual/space context, works that somehow use kinetics, or are related to film/video work, or have been used in an installation context. The sounds presented as part of 'Continental In[di]visibility' form an invisible bond between those working with an a/v context bringing about a deeper listening and visualization experience for listeners. You can either stream (for up to one week) or listen live.

Invited artists and contributors include: skoltz_kolgen, Brume, Seth Nehil, Yann Novak, Pe Lang + Zimoun, Ethan Rose, Alexei Borisov & Anton Nikkila, Gal, Clinker, Steve Peters, and Richard Francis.

National Film Board of Canada's feature documentary film entitled DIRT was scored by Clinker...

"What is it about feeling dirty that shames us into silence and disgust?" asks director MEGHNA HALDAR in the feature documentary DIRT. From the slums of Kolkata to Vancouver's Downtown Eastside to a barbeque joint in Central Texas - everyone has a different story. DIRT isn't just a four letter word, it contains a world of meaning spanning the divine to the profane. A quixotic odyssey into all things unclean, featuring animation to make Hieronymus Bosch blush, tracks from GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR and an experimental soundscape by Clinker, DIRT digs deep to illuminate the positively filthy experience of being human.

MUTEK FESTIVAL MONTREAL | 2007

Clinker opened the 2007 Mutek Festival in Montreal.
On May 30th. he performed his audio-visual (Live Cinema) piece entitled "Provody" at Ex-centris.

Dedicated to the burgeoning digital art form known as Live Cinema, the A/VISIONS 1 program brings together three internationally renowned artists who specialize in the articulation of sound and images in the context of live performance. Randy Jones (US) uses the Radio Drum (a 3D Theremin) to create a continuum of audio/visual particles. Clinker's (Edmonton) work highlights the tensions, connections and variations that oppose and connect sound sources to visuals. Boris & Brecht Debackere (Belgium) and Semiconductor (UK) have both created personalized software to draw imagery from sound. A special showcase dedicated to the cutting edge of experimental film.
